Transforming communities…
for sustainable solutions - one village at a time.
We’re a fast-acting nonprofit, partnering with local leaders to see sustainable transformation in Ugandan communities.
Welcome! We are Transformed Communities International (TCI), dedicated to helping people who live in impoverished, rural areas of Uganda. Our vision is to promote Transformed, Empowered, Healthy, Food-Secure Communities through the power of God’s love, education, and sustainable programs. We invite you to get to know us in the pages of this website and join us in our work.
TCI helps local leaders identify problems in their schools and communities and work together to design and implement poverty alleviation strategies. Our programs promote solidarity among community members while enabling them to pursue their own development with sustainable infrastructures. Find out what’s happening now on our blog.

Our Areas of Impact:
-
Poor families can disrupt the vicious cycle of poverty that has engulfed them from generation to generation through education. By supporting Alpha Omega Secondary School scholars and the local primary schools in hard-to-reach communities, we aim to improve the accessibility of education to the poor. This brings hope to these families.
-
Targeting farmers and their families, we train farmers in sustainable and integrated farming strategies, to look at farming as a business enterprise that requires technical and management skills. All participants are taught how (and supported) to develop FAITH (Food Always In The Home) Gardens. Spurred on by the successful results of healthy gardens and increased income in Western Ugandan villages, we were moved to implement the same in Karamoja region of northeastern Uganda.
-
The foundation of our livelihood programs is Paradigm Shift Training. Through this training, individuals and communities experience a mindset change which propels them into income generating activities that provide alternative sources of income to each family.
-
Since July 2019, our capacity building work has included selecting and training leaders and helping them identify problems and find solutions for their communities. Through training leaders, educating the next generation, and partnering with other organizations, we are working to develop resources that enable growth.
-
As we maintain very close relationships with our Ugandan community leaders, emergency needs are quickly brought to our attention. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we learned of the immediate need for food and medical care, and were able to respond quickly. And during the persistent famine crisis in Karamoja, we have rallied meaningful support. Since 2022, we have consistently supplied food to about 5,000 people while developing sustainable gardening practices.
-
To transform communities, health issues must be addressed. Our team educates communities about the common diseases rampant in Uganda, teaching about nutrition and hygiene and providing testing for Malaria, Typhoid and HIV as well as addressing depression which has become all too common especially among the youth since the covid pandemic. Currently, we are addressing severe malnutrition in Karamoja.
