OUR WORK
Capacity Building
Expanding Resources for Growth
TRAINING LEADERS Since July 2019, the leadership staff of TCI has been partnering with local leaders in Western Uganda to build healthy communities (learn more about our story here). Our capacity building work has included selecting and training volunteer staff, setting up the TCI-Uganda Office, and helping leaders identify problems and find solutions. With community participation, we visit villages, consult leaders, and train locals (who then train others) in Paradigm Shift and Transformative Leadership Development.
KAOSS is a very hard-working school, and the surrounding community is benefiting. Even though this school has only the most basic resources for its work, in 2019 they rose from ranking in the 100’s to being # 6 in their school district! They were forced to shutdown due to COVID-19, but in September the school opened for examination candidates. The return of other grades is occurring in accordance with the government guidelines. However, by the time they return, many already needy students have journeyed deeper into poverty. Many do not have the funds for school fees. And without education, there is great risk that these children and teens will fall back to the cycle of generational poverty they were born into. The entire community suffers.
IN KARAMOJA our team is teaching Paradigm Shift principles to and training the villagers to garden and grow vegetables so that they can grow a least a small amount of food using the water from boreholes. They are also being taught how to make organic pesticides using local plants. Many, many children are involved in this effort and are developing life skills
